The role of a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Operator is one of today's most high profile security positions. Higher expectations are being placed on systems and operators to assist with crime, from anti-social behaviour through to murders or even terrorism. As a result the CCTV Operators responsibility to deliver a higher quality of service has greatly increased over recent years.

The BTEC Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) is designed to provide:

• Training for those in the security sector specialising in CCTV operations in public surveillance.
• Opportunities for CCTV Operators to achieve a nationally recognised level 2 qualification.
• The knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to apply for a licence to practice from the Security Industry Authority.
